MCA Legislator of the Year Awards presented

The Missouri Cattlemen’s Association honored two legislators during its 50th Annual Missouri Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show. One senator and one representative recently received the 2017 Legislator of the Year Award.

Sen. Dan Hegeman, R-12, was presented the award for his support of MCA over the past year.

“Senator Hegeman went to bat for Missouri agriculture,” MCA Executive Vice President Mike Deering said. “Senator Hegeman is a fighter and we’re glad to have him looking out for Missouri farm and ranch families. As a farmer himself, he gets it.”

From the Missouri House of Representatives, Sonya Anderson knows the importance of agriculture and understands the impact legislative decisions can have on producers.

“She relentlessly fights for farmer and ranch families and never backs down,” said Deering. “Rep. Anderson sponsors legislation shining a light on the unethical and shady tactics of animal rights extremists who are determined to put our members out of business.”

Deering said MCA is honored to recognize these legislators for their support.

“Our members do their best to fight for the beef industry each week at the capitol, but the decisions are ultimately made by the men and women elected to represent them.”
