Springfield Livestock Market report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Missouri, reported receipts of 599 head selling on Feb. 21, compared to 2,047 head a week ago and 2,529 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Compared to a week ago, there were not enough steers and heifers for a good price test. Demand was good to very good on a light supply. Receipts were curtailed due to the rain and ice in the weather forecast. A new winter weather advisory covers much of the trade area. The feeder cattle supply included 65% steers, 2% dairy steers, 29% heifers and 4% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 31%.

Feeder steers: Per hundredweight, medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 201.50 to 212.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 183.50 to 204.00; 632 lbs., 162.50, 652 lbs., calves 158.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 141.00 to 157.75; 828 lbs., 141.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 180.00 to 185.00; 566 lbs., 172.50; 612 lbs., 164.50. Medium and large frame 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 151.00 to 157.00; 693 lbs., 144.50. Large frame 1, 520 lbs., 152.00; 770 lbs., 139.00; 851 lbs., 135.00. Feeder dairy steers, per hundredweight, large frame 3, 692 lbs., 86.00.
