Tulia Livestock Auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,314 head selling on Feb. 22, compared to 3,207 head a week ago and 3,225 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling $3 to $5 lower. Trade was fairly active on moderate to good demand. The trading area remains very dry and in much need of moisture despite a few showers in some fortunate areas. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 1%, less than 1% replacements, and 99 feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 61% steers and bulls, 39% heifers. Approximately 78% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, individual 1445 lbs., 80.00; high dressing, individual 1680 lbs., 90.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, individual 1050 lbs., 6 to 9 months bred 975.00 per head.
