Apache Livestock Auction report
The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,776 head selling on March 1, compared to 240 head a week ago and 3,534 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to the Feb. 15 sale, feeder steers 600 to 700 pounds were selling steady to $1 higher, 700 to 850 pounds were selling $2 to $3 lower. Feeder heifers were selling $2 to $3 higher. Steer and heifer calves were selling $2 to $7 higher. Quality was good to attractive with good demand. The supply included 67% over 600 pounds and 36% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $3 to $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling steady. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 85 cows and bulls sold with 64% going to packers.

Replacement cows: All were tested for bangs, pregnancy and age. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 5 years old, 1050 to 1200 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, high quality 1200.00 to 1300.00; 3 to 6 years old, 1000 to 1450 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality 1050.00 to 1185.00.
Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 6 years old, 1100 to 1500 lbs., with 175- to 300-lb. calves, average quality 1300.00 to 1650.00.
