Arkansas livestock auction summary
The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending March 2, showed estimated receipts of selling 6,300 head, compared to 4,885 head a week ago and 10,490 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers under 600 pounds were selling $7 to $10 higher, over 600 pounds were selling mostly $2 to $5 higher. Feeder heifers were selling mostly steady to $8 higher. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $4 higher. The supply included 4,110 stocker and feeder calves, 1,230 feeder yearlings, 300 replacement cows, 545 slaughter cows and 115 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 41% yearling heifers.
