Cotton Incorporated, in conjunction with the University of Tennessee, has created a series of videos to explain the benefits of cover crops to the cotton growing community. These videos also give cotton producers suggestions on how to successfully integrate cover crops into their operation.
Housed on Cotton Incorporated’s producer-directed wesite, Cotton Cultivated, the series includes three videos ranging in length from 4 to 6 minutes each. Topics include:
-
Benefits of cover crops on herbicide resistant weeds.
-
General overview of using cover crops in cotton and their benefits.
-
How cover crops increase rainfall infiltration and reduce drought stress.
“We see these videos as a great way to support our industry’s sustainability goals,” says Ed Barnes, Cotton Incorporated.
“The videos focus on the impact of cover crops and are a great resource for growers, but they may also be useful in illustrating what cotton growers are doing to minimize their environmental impact,” said Barnes.
