Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,070 head selling on March 22, compared to 3,698 head a week ago and 5,806 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 800 to 1000 pounds were selling $1 to $3 lower. In 800 pounds and under, a lower undertone was noted while some instances were selling $5 lower. Heifers 700 to 1050 pounds were selling steady to $4 lower, while in 700 pounds and under, a lower undertone was noted. Trade was slow and demand light. The feeder supply included 60% steers and 40% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 81% (2,486).
