OKC West Livestock cattle auction report

The OKC West Livestock, El Reno, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 8,865 head on April 11, compared to 3,013 head last week and 15,243 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers were selling $4 to $8 higher. The feeder heifers were trading $4 to $6 higher. The steer calves where comparable sales were noted were trading $3 to $5 higher. The heifer calves were selling $2 to mostly $4 higher. The quality was plain with a few attractive. The demand was moderate to good; however, cattle were in thinner flesh conditions sold with very good demand. The feeder cattle supply included 63% steers, 1% was dairy steers, 35% was heifers and 1% was bulls. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 84%.
