Join Colorado Cattlemen’s Association and Colorado State University for the first-ever Ranch Gathering, to be held at the unique and historic Cherokee Ranch and Castle on May 15 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. CCA members and the area ranching community are invited and welcome to attend. Bring a friend and if they join CCA, you will each receive a commemorative CCA Ranch sign.
This exclusive event will include updates from CCA and CSU, overviewing policy, research, and Colorado beef industry topics of interest to attendees. A look into the Cherokee Ranch’s prized Santa Gertrudis cattle herd will also be featured. “Tweet” Kimball pioneered this breed in the Rocky Mountain Region. Along the way, this vibrant, energetic and independent visionary became the first rancher, male or female, to introduce the Santa Gertrudis breed into Colorado—eventually serving on the National Western Stock Show board of directors, the first woman ever to do so.
There will also be a coveted opportunity to tour the Cherokee Ranch and Castle and participate in mini-workshops about the ranch’s ecological, archeological and cultural diversity. The Castle Tour will offer something for everyone. Beautiful architecture and last-century style and living; along with a historical look at “Tweet” Kimball’s life.
Special guest Ajay Menon, dean of the College of Agriculture at CSU, will host a roundtable discussion with attendees detailing the present and future of the university and its commitment to agriculture. The evening will culminate with social and networking opportunities and a delicious beef dinner.
