Ada livestock auction report

The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,582 head selling on April 19, compared to 1,755 head a week ago and 1,402 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves were selling steady to $3 higher with most advance on weights over 350 pounds. Yearlings were not tested. Overall quality was plain to average. Demand was good for calves in thin to average flesh. Heifers made up 48% and cattle over 600 pounds were 19% of the supply. Slaughter cows were selling $3 to $4 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $2 to $4 lower. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 367 cows and bulls sold with 36% going to packers.
