Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,563 head selling on April 19, compared to 5,261 head a week ago and 4,876 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 850 to 1000 pounds were selling steady to $1 higher, and in those 850 pounds and under, a lower undertone was noted with instances selling $3 to $6 lower. Heifers 350 to 1000 pounds were selling steady with a lower undertone noted in a limited comparable offering. Trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply was 55% steers and 45% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 77% (2,743).
