Dalhart livestock auction report
The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,295 head selling on June 14, compared to 1,909 head selling a week ago and 1,834 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 600 pounds were selling firm in a limited test. Feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were selling steady, with instances selling $1 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling $1 to $2 lower. Trade was fairly active. Demand was fairly good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 975-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 14%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1% and feeders 86%. The feeder supply included 43% steers and 57% heifers. Nearly 86% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
