According to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Delta Regional Field Office, Arkansas, there were 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Aug. 12. Topsoil moisture supplies were 10 percent very short, 40 percent short, 44 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 10 percent very short, 46 percent short, 40 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Low temperatures ranged from 65.3 degrees Fahrenheit at Calico Rock to 72.8 degrees Fahrenheit at Hot Springs. Highs ranged from 83.7 degrees Fahrenheit at Kingston to 96.4 degrees Fahrenheit at Crossett. Moderate to heavy precipitation was received throughout the state, with the highest concentration occurring in the southwest part of the state with an average of 3.45 inches.
