Salina feeder cattle auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 4,448 head selling on Aug. 9, compared to 2,618 head a week ago and 3,359 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 700 to 1000 pounds were selling steady to $1 lower. In 700 pounds and under, a lower undertone was noted in a limited supply. Heifers 700 to 900 pounds were selling $1 to $3 higher, 700 pounds and under lower undertone noted. Trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply included 78% steers and 22% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 95% (4,225).
