Tulsa Stockyards feeder cattle report
The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,258 head selling on Aug. 27, compared to 2,012 head a week ago and 1,722 head a year ago, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, the steers and heifers were selling unevenly steady with a slightly lower undertone noted. The demand was good and the quality was plain with a few attractive. About 23% of the receipt totals were feeder cattle weighing over 600 pounds while 37% of the total receipts were heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $3 to $5 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $4 lower. A total of 278 cows and bulls were sold with 68% going to packers.
The Tulsa Stockyards will be closed on Sept. 3 in observance of Labor Day.
