The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Nebraska, reported receipts of 2,240 head selling on Aug. 31, compared to 2,168 head Aug. 17 and 1,743 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Nebraska.
Compared to the Aug. 17 sale, steers 850 to 950 pounds were selling $4 lower and heifers over 750 pounds were selling steady to $2 lower. Demand was good from the buyers in the crowd. The calf and feeder supply included 43% steers and 57% heifers with nearly 89% of the run weighing over 600 pounds.
