Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,672 head selling on Sept. 13, compared to 1,118 head a week ago and 3,628 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, drying out from recent rains increased the receipts. Steers 350 to 1000 pounds were selling $1 to $4 higher with some instances $8 higher. Heifers 700 to 950 pounds were selling steady. In 700 pounds and under a lower undertone was noticed in a very limited supply. Trade was active and demand good. The feeder supply included 69% steers and 31% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 91% (2431).
