There were 5.4 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sept. 16, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Delta Regional Field Office, Arkansas. Topsoil moisture supplies were 1 percent very short, 14 percent short, 70 percent adequate, and 15 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 4 percent very short, 17 percent short, 70 percent adequate, and 9 percent surplus. Low temperatures ranged from 58.9 degrees Fahrenheit at Lead Hill to 70.7 degrees Fahrenheit at Magnolia. Highs ranged from 74.5 degrees Fahrenheit at Hot Springs to 87.0 degrees Fahrenheit at Magnolia. Precipitation was light throughout the state, with the highest concentration occurring in the east central part of the state with an average of 0.99 inch.
