Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 1,948 head selling on Sept. 20, compared to 2,672 head a week ago and 2,443 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 800 to 1000 pounds were selling steady to $4 higher. In 800 pounds and under, a higher undertone was noted on a limited supply. Heifers 700 to 1050 pounds were selling $1 to $5 higher. In 700 pounds and under, a higher undertone was noted on a light offering. Trade was active and demand good. The feeder supply included 58% steers and 42% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 86% (1675).
