Champions chosen at Kansas Junior Livestock Show
In the grand champion steer drive at the 2018 Kansas Junior Livestock Show, a 1,337 pound crossbred led by Cooper Henson of Holcomb captured top honors. Lauren Aust of La Cygne owned the reserve grand, a 1,362 pound Charolais.
Ashley Kennedy of Satanta showed the supreme champion breeding heifer, an Angus. Reserve supreme went to a commercial heifer shown by Abby Wood from Leavenworth.
A 290 pound Berkshire shown by Jenna DeRouchey from St. Marys was named grand champion market hog. Cedar Caruso from Paola exhibited the reserve grand champion, a 275 pound dark crossbred.
The supreme breeding gilt and champion commercial was exhibited by Kirbie Stroup of Parker. Reserve supreme honors went to the reserve commercial gilt owned by Courtney Baetz from Downs.
Jillian Keller of Piqua owned the grand champion market lamb, a 150 pound blackface. The reserve grand, a 149 pound blackface lamb, was shown by Kylar Lee from Burlington.
Supreme registered breeding ewe honors went to a Hampshire shown by Carson Keller of Piqua. Reserve supreme was a Hampshire led by Kylar Lee from Burlington.
Hagen Draper-Egea of Louisburg exhibited the grand champion meat goat, weighing 88 pounds. The 93 pound reserve champion was led by Becca Paine from Hutchinson.
Julianna Sprague of Kincaid led the supreme champion commercial doe. The reserve supreme was shown by Kami McComb from Pratt.
KJLS was held Oct. 5 to 7 in Hutchinson.
