McAlester livestock market report
The McAlester Union Livestock Auction, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,600 head selling on Nov. 6, compared to 2,800 head a week ago and 2,100 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves were selling $7 to $10 higher. Heifer calves were selling steady to $4 higher. Demand was good. Quality was average through attractive. The supply included 20% over 600 pounds with 42% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $3 to $7 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $12 lower. A total of 250 cows and bulls sold with 64% going to packers.

Replacement cows: All were pre-tested for pregnancy and age. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1 to 4 years old, 850 to 1075 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average to high quality 750.00 to 835.00; 5 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1425 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, average to high quality 975.00 to 1010.00.
Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 to 8 years old, 1500 lbs., with 200-lb. calves, average quality 800.00; 9 to 10 years old, 1075 to 1250 lbs., with 100- to 225-lb. calves, average quality 775.00 to 850.00.
