Five Kansas Livestock Association members were recognized during the recent KLA Convention for supporting the organization for 50 years. Those who joined in 1968 were John Atwater, Netawaka; Paul Hayse, Mullinville; R. P. (Pat) Ireland, Muscotah; Laue Charolais Ranch, Hanover; and Sublette Feeders.
Attaining 60 years of membership this year were Centera Bank of Sublette and the Kansas Motor Carriers Association in Topeka. KLA currently has 104 members who have been loyal to the association 50 years or longer.
“Dedicated members like these demonstrate the enduring support that continues to make KLA an effective voice for the Kansas livestock industry,” said KLA President Barb Downey, a rancher from Wamego.
KLA is a trade organization protecting the business interests of independent ranchers, feeders and dairy farmers. Members of the association are involved in all segments of the livestock industry, including cow-calf production, backgrounding, cattle feeding, swine, dairy and sheep. The association’s work is funded by voluntary dues dollars paid by its more than 5,500 members.
