Lexington Livestock Market report
The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Nebraska, reported receipts of 3,488 head selling on Nov. 30, compared to 3,360 head Nov. 16 and 2,700 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Kearney, Nebraska.
Compared to the Nov. 16 sale, steers under 600 pounds were selling steady to $3 higher, 600 to 800 pounds were selling steady with bawling steer calves selling $3 to $8 lower. Heifers under 650 pounds were selling steady to $5 lower and 650 to 700 pound heifers were selling $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good from the buyers in the crowd with not as many buyers toward the end of the auction. A winter storm is due to move into much of the trade area overnight. Around 340 head of slaughter cows and bulls are included in the receipts. The calf and feeder supply included 63% steers and 37% heifers with near 50% of the run weighing over 600 pounds.
