Apache Livestock Auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,089 head selling Dec. 6, compared to 3,510 head a week ago and 1,481 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling $9 to $12 lower, feeder heifers were selling $3 to $8 lower. Steer and heifer calves were selling $4 to $15 lower. Quality was fair to attractive. Demand was very weak with the forecast of ice and snow the next several days. The supply included 31% over 600 pounds and 41% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $5 to $7 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $4 to $5 lower. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 198 cows and bulls sold with 42% going to packers.
