McAlester feeder cattle sale results

McAlester Union Livestock Auction, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,025 head selling a week ago, 1,375 head trading April 20 and 1,500 head selling a year ago, according to USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 400 pounds were selling $2 to $3 higher, over 400 pounds were trading $4 to $6 lower. Heifer calves were selling $2 to $4 lower. Demand was moderate. Quality was average through attractive. Supply included: 76% feeder cattle (32% steers, 50% heifers, 17% bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 23%.
