High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending March, reported receipts of 61,012 head compared to 62,386 head a week ago and 64,065 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers:

Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 20,566 head, 1,300 to 1,700 lbs., 182.00 – 187.00 (185.26); 65 to 80% Choice, 5,767 head, 1,175 to 1,580 lbs., 178.00 to 185.00 (184.67); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,997 head, 1,150 to 1,390 lbs., 185.00. Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 698 head, 1,475 to 1,550 lbs., 186.00 to 188.00 (187.75). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 5,654 head, 822 to 1,015 lbs., 290.00 to 300.00 (293.63); 65 to 80% Choice, 945 head, 901 to 969 lbs., 292.00.
