SDSU welcomes new weed ecology specialist

South Dakota State University Extension has hired Graig Reicks as the new weed ecology field specialist. In his role, Reicks will provide guidance for weed management in specialty crops, pastures and rangelands, organic systems, lawns/gardens and public right-of-ways. He is based in Brookings.

Reicks has his doctorate in plant science from SDSU and has been a research associate in SDSU’s Department of Agronomy, Horticulture and Plant Science since 2007. His experience includes working with South Dakota farmers to conduct on-farm research and managing the IR-4 pesticide testing program for specialty crops, a federally funded project that collects data for pesticide registration.
