Pratt cattle auction report

The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported estimated receipts of 2,700 head on Oct. 18, compared to 881 head last week and 1,103 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.

This is the mid-session report. Compared to a week ago, there were limited comparable weights from last week’s sale. There was a limited test of steers, so no trend is available, but a higher undertone was noted with a few sharp increases on some loads. The feeder heifers were steady to slightly lower on very limited comparable weights. The demand was good to very good and the quality was average to mostly attractive. The feeder supply was 75% steers and 25% was heifers, with 93% weighing over 600 pounds.
