KDA seeks volunteers for ag emergency response training
The Kansas Department of Agriculture will host a one-day training workshop for those interested in being part of the Kansas Agriculture Emergency Response Corps. It will take place Jan. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sedgwick County Extension Education Center in Wichita.
KDA’s Emergency Response Corps was initiated in 2017 and is composed of volunteers representing a broad range of skill sets. These individuals will be trained and prepared to respond rapidly and efficiently to an agricultural emergency, including foreign animal disease outbreaks.
There is no cost for the workshop. It is open to anyone interested in learning more about responding to agricultural incidents. Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP in advance to [email protected].
Additional training workshops will be held in other regions of the state during 2018. For more information about the workshops or the Kansas Agriculture Emergency Response Corps, go to www.agriculture.ks.gov/kaerc or contact [email protected].
