Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 4,458 head selling on Jan. 25, compared to 3,808 head a week ago and 4,570 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 700 to 1050 pounds were selling $1 to $4 lower; in 700 pounds and under, a higher undertone was noted. Heifers 700 to 1000 pounds were selling steady to $1 lower; in 700 pounds and under, a lower undertone was noted. Trade and demand was moderate. Receipts included 85% 600 pounds and over, 14% 600 pounds and under and 01% slaughter cows. The feeder supply was 69% steers and 31% heifers.
