Pratt livestock auction report

The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 4,434 head selling on Feb. 15, compared to 3,588 head a week ago and 3,286 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 600 to 1000 pounds were selling firm to $3 higher with instances selling $6 to $8 higher. Feeder heifers 600 to 700 pounds and 750 to 900 pounds were selling firm to $3 higher; 700 to 750 pounds were selling $2 lower. In steer and heifer calves, a firm to higher undertone was noted on a light test. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading $2 to $3 higher. Trade active and demand good. Receipts included 86% 600 pounds and over, 9% 600 pounds and under and 5% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 50% steers and 40% heifers.
