KHC holds annual meeting

More than 100 Kansas Horse Council members were in attendance Jan. 27, at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Topeka for the 2018 Annual Membership Meeting.

Attendees were entertained by Cowboy Poet Geff Dawson with his wife Dawn and their grandaughter, Haddie. Volunteers were recognized for their service by Jim Thomas. The following three KHC Directors were re-elected to the Board: Kallie Emig, Jim Thomas and Dr. Beth Davis.

Executive Director, Justine Staten, reviewed the events and accomplishments from 2017 and reminded everyone that the Kansas Horse Council is in it’s 25 year. The meal, entertainment and program were excellent.

Kim Mertz and Chris Newell, adult children of KHC Founder Bud Newell, presented the Bud Newell Award to long time KHC member, Chris Kaegi-Stevens, for her dedication to the continued growth and prosperity of the organization.
