Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,716 head selling on Feb. 22, compared to 3,852 head a week ago and 3,817 head a year ago, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 700 to 1000 pounds were selling $1 to $4 lower, in 700 pounds and under a steady undertone was noted. Heifers 700 to 1000 pounds were selling $1 to $5 lower while in 700 pounds and under a higher undertone was noted. Trade was slow and demand moderate. Receipts included 92% 600 pounds and over, 07% 600 pounds and under and 01% slaughter cows. The feeder supply was 56% steers and 44% heifers, with 92% 600 pounds and over.
