Apache Livestock Auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 240 head selling on Feb. 22, compared to 2,367 head a week ago and 2,038 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, a severe ice storm left roads nearly impassable, reducing receipts with no comparable sales. The supply included 49% over 600 pounds and 35% heifers. There was no test on slaughter cows and bulls. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 35 cows and bulls sold with 71% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 441 to 448 lbs., 186.00 to 194.50 (192.54); 5 head, 457 lbs., 182.00; 10 head, 509 to 528 lbs., 185.00 to 188.50 (186.72); 5 head, 645 lbs., 155.00; 707 to 730 lbs., 146.00 to 153.25 (150.90); 8 head, 931 lbs., 133.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 344 lbs., 155.00; 10 head, 454 to 459 lbs., 130.00 to 146.00 (138.04).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 3 head, 408 lbs., 145.00; 9 head, 545 lbs., 150.00; 630 to 635 lbs., 135.00 to 138.00 (136.29); 5 head, 769 lbs., 128.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 373 lbs., 140.00. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 314 lbs., 124.00; 5 head, 415 lbs., 116.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 6 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1150 to 1450 lbs., 67.00; high dressing, 68.00 to 69.50; low dressing, 61.00. Replacement cows: All were pre-tested for bangs, pregnancy and age. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 years old, 1375 lbs., 4 months bred, high quality 1150.00.
