Pratt Livestock Auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,561 head selling on April 5, compared to 2,861 head a week ago and 2,166 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling firm to $5 higher, off grass and with a vaccination program were selling $10 to $20 higher. Feeder heifers 600 to 750 pounds were trading weak to $2 lower, 750 to 900 pounds were selling steady to firm. Steer and heifer calves were trading mostly $3 higher, with instances sharply higher on weaned and thin fleshed. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to $2 higher. The feeder supply was 61% steers 39% heifers with 79% 600 pounds and over.
