Apache Livestock Auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,293 head selling on April 13, compared to 960 head a week ago and 2,205 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling $3 to $6 higher. Feeder heifers were selling $2 to $4 higher. Steer calves were selling $3 to $10 higher and heifer calves were trading steady to $4 higher. Quality was good to attractive with improved demand. The supply included 70% over 600 pounds and 46% heifers. In slaughter cows and bulls, there were not enough comparable cattle for a market test. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 223 cows and bulls sold with 54% going to packers.
