Ada livestock auction report

The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,755 head selling on April 12, compared to 1,862 head a week ago and 1,721 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves were selling steady to $1 higher except heifer calves 450 to 550 pounds were selling $2 to $3 higher. There was no test on yearling cattle. Overall quality was mostly average. Demand was good for all classes, but especially good for weaned calves. Sunny and warmer weather has temporarily returned but cooler weather is forecast for the weekend. Heifers made up 40% and cattle over 600 pounds 16% of offerings. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading steady. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 338 cows and bulls sold with 32% going to packers.
