Springfield cattle market report
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Missouri, reported receipts of 2,127 head on April 25, compared to 2,053 head last week and 1,640 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to a week ago, the steers were steady to $5 higher and the heifers were steady. The Holsteins compared to two weeks ago that weighed under 800 pounds were steady to $7 higher with spots $10 higher and those over 800 pounds were selling $5 to $10 higher. The demand was moderate to good and the supply was moderate. The feeder cattle supply included 26% steers, 37% was dairy steers, 28% was heifers and 9% was bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 35%.
