Winter Livestock sales report
The Winter Livestock Auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 4,473 head on May 2, compared to 3,434 head last week and 817 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to the previous week, the feeder steers weighing 700 to 750 pounds were selling $3 higher and those 750 to 950 pounds were steady to weak on a light test of medium and large frame 1 stock. The feeder heifers from 650 to 950 pounds were steady to $3 lower. The steer and heifer calves experienced a firm to higher undertone on a light test of medium and large frame 1 stock. The trade and demand was moderate. The slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher and the slaughter bulls were weak to $4 lower. The feeder supply was 60% steers and 40% was heifers with 79% weighing 600 pounds and over.
