Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 1,898 head selling on May 17, compared to 2,887 head a week ago and 1,747 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 800 to 900 pounds were selling $5 to $10 lower, 550 to 800 pounds were trading $4 to $9 lower on a limited comparable offering, in 550 pounds and under there was no recent comparison. Heifers 700 to 900 pounds were selling $6 lower with instances of $15 lower. In 700 pounds and under, a lower undertone was noted in a light supply. Trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply included 47% steers and 53% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 80% (1,518).
