McAlester livestock auction report
The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,750 head selling on June 19, compared to 1,780 head a week ago and 1,700 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves between 350 pounds and 450 pounds were selling $4 to $7 lower, above 450 pounds were selling steady to $1 higher. Heifer calves were selling $3 to $6 higher. Quality was average to very good. Demand was good. The supply included 32% over 600 pounds with 48% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $1 higher. A total of 220 cows and bulls sold with 60% going to packers.
