Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,978 head selling on July 26, compared to 3,522 head a week ago and 4,058 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 700 to 1000 pounds were selling steady to $3 lower. In 700 pounds and under, a lower undertone was noted in a light offering. Heifers 500 to 1100 pounds were selling $3 to $6 higher. In 500 pounds and under, a higher undertone was noted on a limited supply. Trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply included 67% steers and 33% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 89% (2650).
