Apache Livestock Auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,243 head selling on Aug. 2, compared to 1,731 head a week ago and 1,753 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling $1 to $4 higher, feeder heifers were selling $4 to $5 higher. Steer calves were selling unevenly steady. Heifer calves were selling $1 to $3 higher. Quality was mostly fair to moderate with improved demand. The supply included 60% over 600 pounds and 39% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were trading steady. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 374 cows and bulls sold with 69% going to packers.
