Philip Livestock Auction report
The Philip Livestock Auction, Philip, South Dakota, reported receipts of 3,505 head selling on July 31, compared to 3,267 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
This sale has not been recently reported due to seasonally low receipts, therefore no comparisons can be made. Very good demand for this anniversary special which featured many long strings, load lots, packages of feeder steers, feeder heifers, and tested open heifers which all sold on an active market. The supply was off grass and in light to moderate flesh. The receipts were 83% feeder cattle the balance was slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder cattle offering consisted of 54% steers, 46% heifers, 96% over 600 pounds.
