There was no feeder cattle sale the past week so comparisons are being made from two weeks ago. The feeder steers weighing 550 to 800 pounds were selling $2 to $4 higher, those 800 to 850 pounds were steady and those 850 to 900 pounds were selling $2 higher. The feeder heifers under 500 pounds were steady, those 500 to 550 pounds were selling $3 to $5 higher, those 550 to 600 pounds were steady, those 600 to 650 pounds were selling $4 to $6 higher and those 650 to 750 pounds were selling $3 to $4 higher. There was very good demand for many long strings, load lots and packages of feeder steers, feeder heifers and replacement heifers, which were selling on an active market at the beginning of the sale and escalated to a very active market as the sale progressed. There were several instances where buyers took multiple loads when given the option. Some of the cattle carried light flesh, many carried moderate flesh with very little tag. The offerings included 91% of receipts were on feeder cattle and the balance was slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder cattle offering included 62% steers and 38% was heifers, with 92% over 600 pounds.
