Salina livestock auction report
The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,618 head selling on Aug. 2, compared to 2,978 head a week ago and 3,978 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, steers 700 to 1000 pounds were selling $1 to $2 higher, 700 pounds and under were selling $1 higher. Heifers 750 to 1000 pounds were selling $4 lower. In 750 pounds and under, a steady undertone was noted on a limited supply. Trade and demand were moderate. The feeder supply was 54% steers and 46% heifers. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 84%, 2,199 head.
