Lexington Livestock Market report

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Nebraska, reported receipts of 2,083 head selling on Aug. 3, compared to 1,998 head July 20 and 2,530 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Nebraska.

Compared to the July 20 sale, steers 900 to 950 pounds were selling steady. Demand was good from the buyers in the crowd. Around 500 head of harvest cattle along with around 300 head of fall bred cows and pairs were included in the receipts. The feeder supply included 63% steers and 37% heifers with near 99% of the run weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 34 head, 660 lbs., 171.00; 756 to 765 lbs., 150.00 to 156.00 (153.66); 807 to 812 lbs., 151.00 to 154.50 (153.52); 928 to 943 lbs., 149.00 to 155.10 (151.10). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 788 lbs., 140.00; 23 head, 937 lbs., 138.00 fleshy.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 17 head, 588 lbs., 163.50; 44 head, 666 lbs., 155.50; 15 head, 843 lbs., 142.50; 11 head, 800 lbs., 136.00 fleshy; 855 to 896 lbs., 141.00 to 149.75 (149.14); 18 head, 878 lbs., 129.00 fleshy; 37 head, 928 lbs., 141.25; 958 to 995 lbs., 128.00 to 139.60 (138.19).
