McAlester livestock auction report
The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,250 head selling on Aug. 14, compared to 1,800 head a week ago and 1,350 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves were selling $3 to $6 lower. Heifer calves were selling $2 to $5 lower. Quality was average through attractive. The sale continues to have large groups of attractive calves. Demand was moderate to good. The supply included 29% over 600 pounds with 45% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $4 to $7 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling steady. A total of 120 cows and bulls sold with 73% going to packers.
