Apache Livestock Auction report
The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,402 head selling on Aug. 16, compared to 1,626 head a week ago and 647 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling steady on a limited test. Feeder heifers were selling $2 lower. There were not enough steer calves of comparable weights for a market test. Heifer calves were selling $2 to $5 lower. Quality was fair to attractive with moderate demand. Supply included 41% over 600 pounds and 36% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $1 higher. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 182 cows and bulls sold with 60% going to packers.
