There were 5.2 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Aug. 26, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Delta Regional Field Office, Arkansas. Topsoil moisture supplies were 1 percent very short, 15 percent short, 67 percent adequate, and 17 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 2 percent very short, 24 percent short, 64 percent adequate, and 10 percent surplus. Low temperatures ranged from 62.6 degrees Fahrenheit at Mammoth Spring to 69.7 degrees Fahrenheit at Ashdown. Highs ranged from 77.9 degrees Fahrenheit at Kingston to 93.7 degrees Fahrenheit at Ashdown. Moderate precipitation was received throughout the state, with the highest concentration occurring in the southeast part of the state with an average of 1.49 inches.
